That EP is finally taking shape…

fulhast:

All the Game Boy tracks have been finalised and transferred…the track listing (which will mean nothing to anyone apart from me) will be something along the lines of:

1. Intro
2. Bin Collection
3. I Choose DarkNES (instrumental)
4. Riot On 42nd Street
5. Train To Harlow (instrumental)
6. Prison Pizza
7. Balls Balls Balls (instrumental)
8. Same New Story
9. Flying Lessons For Ladybirds
10. My Fi Is Lo-er Than Your Fi
11. Outro

Now, I only need to add all the other bits. Hmmmm. Where to start?

Can’t wait to hear this on the 14th!

Dunno what we’re gonna do for 100. Hopefully we end up playing at a Chinese takeaway in Rochester or something.

Triffids III - Saturday 14th April

OK so contrary to usual behaviour we’ve got our next night all ready to go! It’s the London leg of the Middle Ones / Ace Bushy tour, plus two other awesomes. Here’s what’s happening:

Saturday 14th April
20:30
The George Tavern, Whitechapel, E1 0LA
£3
Dancing til late with Trev Odd Box, DJ Inland Revenue & DJ Nipple High Trousers
Bands:

Anguish Sandwich

Chris used to be the brilliant Winston Echo. In a nearly unrelated thread, one of us used to stalk his writing on the internets and read his chapbooks and blogs. Then we saw Anguish Sandwich on the last Ace Bushy / Middle Ones tour in an undocumented but excellent gig at the Chameleon in Nottingham. Chris had turned to 3 and they blew us away. Since then they have stormed Indietracks and Reading Festival and by the time of this show will hopefully have a 7” EP out too on Odd Box Records.

“You’ll get the primordial ooze of punk here: terse lyrics that are brutally honest and frankly unsatisfied, backed by simple rhythms and a bedeviling sense of humour.” The Girls Are

“a very good band with a very good name and very good songs in the tradition of like the Pixies and Nirvana” We Who Are About To Die

The Middle Ones

The Middle Ones one of the best bands in the world. There, we said it. The Fly says it better:

“Sure, there’s sugar in here, but it’s addictive rather than overpowering. They deal in rough acoustic sketches that teeter on the brink of total collapse, like all the best songs should. Maybe you disagree with that last statement, but whatever – it’s their wholly adorable charm that holds everything together. The sheer glee that goes into every ramshackle arrangement keeps everything afloat, and they’re steered clear of saccharine by dint of their sneakily brilliant tunesmithery. It would be quite convenient to tag them as indiepop, antifolk or perhaps even folk-punk (just about) – but The Middles Ones are too special to be sullied with such boring genre taggery. The live arena’s where they’re going to sparkle – let yourself be charmed.”

Ace Bushy Striptease

“This generation’s Beatles” The Line Of Best Fit
“It’s like an odd mix of the Wedding Present and the Lovely Eggs, by parts classic indie, and by parts the hyperactive theme tune to a children’s television programme gone horribly wrong.” Song By Toad
“like the musical equivalent of a macaroni collage that’s been smeared with glitter.” Kill The Outlaws

Fulhäst

Fulhäst is Nik from Moustache of Insanity. This will be his first solo gig perhaps and he promises us he’ll write some songs soon. He may or may not have some people thrashing with him but expect extra Gameboy and extra awesome: http://fulhast.tumblr.com/ There’s one song on there thus far. It’s ace. And a cassette EP coming soon.

A Bug Collapse

So our fourth and final artiste for Friday night is A Bug Collapse - which is Bas from Ace Bushy Striptease on his own with his guitar and overdrive pedal. We’re not really sure what is going to happen but if it’s anything like his usual songwriting it’ll defo be completely brill!
